Recycled water is not treated to the same quality as potable (drinking) water. Sources include effluents from sewage treatment facilities, greywater and wastewater from industrial, commercial or manufacturing activities. The production and supply of various types of recycled water is regulated to protect public health. There are five classes of recycled water:
- Class A+
- Class A
- Class B
- Class C
- Class D
Each class is of a different quality and is restricted to certain uses. The Queensland Water quality guidelines for recycled water schemes outlines the requirements for the various classes of recycled water.
SAS Laboratory can assist in the design and implementation of validation and verification programs for recycled water schemes.
